Where can I find the list of ingredients for your baked goods?

Ingredients and allergen information are listed on the label of each of our products and/or on the accompanying signage.

How do I store my baked goods for optimum freshness?

All baked goods from Mama Jean are made with fresh, whole ingredients and no preservatives, and so being mindful of their storage helps extend their shelf life. Here are some recommendations for storing your baked goods purchased from Mama Jean.

  • Cookies/Bars: 2-3 days room temperature, 1 week in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer.

  • Muffins: 1-2 days room temperature, 3-4 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer.

  • Pastry products (such as mini pies): not recommended to store at room temperature. 3-4 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer.

  • Scones/Biscuits: best the day they are baked/purchased, but will keep 1-2 days in the fridge. Freezing and defrosting not recommended.

  • Tea Cakes: 2 days room temperature, 5 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer.

Do you make your baked goods in a nut-free kitchen?

Many of the products that we make do not contain nuts as an ingredient. However, while we take great care to prevent cross-contamination, my kitchen is not a nut-free facility. Please see the allergen statement to learn more.

Do you ship your baked goods?

We currently do not ship Mama Jean baked goods.

What is your refund policy?

All sales of baked goods are final.

Do you cater events?

We do consider local, small (fewer than 50 people) catering opportunities on a case-by-case basis. Please email Jess at info@mamajeangoodness.com with any interest or questions.

Where do you source your ingredients?

Here is a list of main product suppliers and vendors for the Mama Jean home bakery: Dick’s Market Gardens (Lunenburg, MA), Green Street Natural Foods (Melrose, MA), King Arthur Flour (Middleboro, VT), Cabot Creamery (Cabot, VT). We use specialty flours from Bob’s Red Mill (Milwaukie, Oregon), and purchase organic chocolate made by companies with clear commitments to sustainability: Guittard, a Fair Trade nut-free facility located in California, and Pascha, which produces vegan, kosher, gluten-free, non-GMO, Rain Forest Alliance certified chocolate in a facility free of all major allergens.

What do you mean by “whole food”?

When we use the term “whole food” we are describing food that is minimally processed, such as vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. These ingredients are the foundation of Mama Jean menus. We also do not use any chemically processed foods in our baked goods.

What is the difference between plant-based and vegan?

A vegan diet excludes all animal products, while a plant-based diet consists mostly of food that comes from plants. A whole-food plant-based diet also typically omits or limits highly refined foods such as oil, refined sugar, and unbleached white flour. People who choose plant-based diets or vegan diets can also have different motivations, from health to the environment to the treatment of animals.

Because highly processed vegan foods are more easily accessible now, it’s possible to eat a vegan diet while eating very few whole plant foods. Both in my baking and cooking, I bring awareness to these distinctions, and focus on whole foods vs. processed ingredients due to their health benefits. If you would like to learn more, I recommend checking out the Forks over Knives as one of the many helpful online resources to explore.

Do you offer gift cards?

Gift cards are not offered at this time. To purchase a personal chef service for a friend or for family, please use the contact form and specify in the message field that you would like to purchase the service as a gift.
